Xipe Totec: Aztec god of Spring, vegetation, and disease, among other things. He flays himself daily to give food to humanity, and is said to have been the god who invented war.
During his yearly festival, the corpses of human sacrifices were carefully flayed, and the skins were worn by his priests for the entirety of the 20 day celebration, after which they were removed and carefully stored to symbolize rebirth and the arrival of spring.
