@04:05Good question. All the ones I've seen have been terrible- though I hear From Beyond was good.

Project I did about two years ago with :iconnewbeing:.

Based on the short story "The Terrible Old Man" by HP Lovecraft.

The next lovecraft film that I'm working on with :iconel-roacho: and :icongwilwileth55: (who I don't think has been on here in years), "The Statement of Randolph Carter", will be done and up in the next few months. It features way better art because logically people get.. you know... a lot better over two years.

@04:18AAAAAH. Wow. VERY creepy. The scene where the old man steps out and the two guys are hanging genuinely freaked me out. I love the animation style too. Going on my favorites!

@04:18I approximately fell off my chair with the awesome of the above.

It was superb; the music gently disturbing, the reader's voice hypnotically deep, the animation so subtle that each tiny movement was pronounced (much like reading Lovecraft).

Exceptional. Exceptional.

The end was rather quick (which is also Lovecraftian but I felt their could be more pausing there), but I don't think you need to apologize for the style of art. It had the feel of an old oil painting, which reinforced the Lovecraftian feel (the screaming face was one shot where I did wince a bit).

I can't wait for the next one.

@04:18Haha well, if you poke around my gallery you can find some backgrounds for the new one, it'd take a very forgiving eye to put them on the same level :) I'm glad you like it!

I did check those out, and I'm glad to see that your technique has improved without sacrificing the eerily liquid contours of oil paintings.

That was excessively well done. The only thing I felt could have used work is perhaps the ending, which felt a little quick. I look forward to your your adaption of The Statement of Randolph Carter (my personal favorite story, and, coincidentally, the subject of my own upcoming film project).

Cool, if you don't have one yet apply for a DA film account now (you have to give them a link to some of your work, I just sent them my youtube). It took like two months for them to get around to accepting me, by which time I'd forgotten all about it.

I have one, I applied shortly after they created it. I don't have anything substantial up here yet, but I have the ability to put it on.

That Lovecraft story is one of my personal favorites and I say kudos for capturing every aspect of it with the film! I think your narrating could use a little work though but it didn't take too much away from the greatness

I totally agree- this has been on youtube for about two years now and the narration has been the most constant criticism we've received. Our next one is improved, and we're working on getting in touch with people to voice the third already :)

Great! I'm happy to hear that and I can't wait to see the turnout! Oh, and the narration is only a minor thing so don't worry too much about it as long as the narrator sounds decent

Haha well, the funny thing is when you're doing animation sounds is something around 75% of what actually makes it work. Strange how that is, but that ends up making it pretty important.

Oh I know, I'd say just make it tolerable with a good animation like this one and I'll still watch it and most likely enjoy it

@00:02This lovecraft story is one of my personal favorites, and I think you got the video down perfectly with the story so nice job! I think you should work on improving the narration though, it was a little too monotone.

@00:02I thought that at the start but later on it got very hypnotic and helped reinforce the mood created by the music and art. I think it works.

@00:02I felt as though the monotone added to it greatly, and that it would not have had the same chilling effect had the narrator been more emotional.

Yeah that's true. And it wasn't over the top on the tone but it was noticeable to me (I'm probably just being nit-picky) but I still enjoyed it, watched it twice, and would gladly watch it again many times down the road
